How did you get into boxing?

I went with a colleague when I lived in New Orleans over 20 years ago because it sounded like fun. I did it for about a year and then traded it in for running. Three years ago, I concluded, with the help of my doctor, that I should not run distances anymore. I needed to release stress and strengthen my core. My choices were yoga or boxing, and I chose boxing.

What changes/results can you attribute to boxing?

My back and core are much stronger. My posture is excellent and I am more confident when I make presentations because I feel physically stronger. Boxing helps me get rid of the stress of the day or week.

How often do you box?

2-3 times a week

Where do you box?

Straightright Boxing & Fitness

Why do you recommend boxing?

Boxing is an excellent way to release stress. I took a month off to pack before I moved and my daughter and boyfriend asked me to please start again. When you box, you cannot think about anything else. You remain focused on the moves, your feet, protecting your face, your breathing, your technique. There is no room for work or the call of duty of parenting. Also, you can feel and see the results quickly. Plus, Coach Anthony Tucker at Straightright makes every minute fun even if you think you cannot make it one more step.
